Whiskers on Parade: My Purr-fect 2025 Cat Show Diary

Day 1: A Promise to My Cat

January 1, 2025

It was the very first morning of the year. My cat, Mochi, stretched out across the couch, her whiskers twitching as if she was dreaming of tuna buffets. I sipped my coffee and whispered, “This year, we’re going to see it all—the most magical cat shows in America.”

Mochi blinked at me slowly—the sacred cat kiss of approval. That was all I needed. Our bags were packed: a travel carrier, a stack of cozy blankets, her favorite toys, and a sparkly bow-tie harness. The adventure began.

Day 2: Saintly City Cat Championship (St. Paul, Minnesota)

Date: January 25–26, 2025

Time: Sat 9 a.m.–5 p.m., Sun 9 a.m.–4 p.m.

Snowflakes swirled outside the Saint Paul RiverCentre, but inside—it was pure feline royalty. Over 200 cats lined up, each fluffier and more regal than the last. Judges carefully inspected tails, paws, and personalities. Some cats strutted proudly; others yawned in protest.

Mochi? She curled in her carrier like a queen on a throne. When her turn came for the Household Pet Division, she rolled onto her back and purred so loudly the judge laughed. And when the “King & Queen” of Household Pets were crowned by the Winter Carnival Royalty, I swear Mochi puffed up her chest like she’d just inherited the kingdom.

Day 15: World of Pets Expo (Timonium, Maryland)

Date: January 24–26, 2025

Competitions: TICA championship & household pets, 18 judging rings

The Expo hall smelled faintly of popcorn and pet shampoo. Cats of every color filled the 18 judging rings—sleek Siamese, majestic Maine Coons, and tiny kittens with eyes wide like moons. Mochi and I wandered through vendor stalls stacked with feather wands, catnip pillows, and fancy scratching towers taller than me.

When Mochi entered her ring, she decided to… nap. Yes, right there on the judging table. But guess what? The judge called her “the most relaxed cat in the building.” We didn’t win a ribbon, but hey—Mochi won hearts.

Day 95: Minn-Kota Feline Club Show (Fargo, North Dakota)

Date: April 5–6, 2025

Driving into Fargo felt like stepping into the heart of cat-loving country. The Minn-Kota Feline Club hosted an ACFA all-breed show, which meant one thing: variety. From curly-coated LaPerms to hairless Sphynx, the show was a gallery of feline diversity.

Mochi’s moment? During the Household Pet showcase, she leaped gracefully onto the judging table—then promptly batted the judge’s pen onto the floor. The audience giggled, and Mochi flicked her tail like, “Yes, that was part of my act.”

Day 214: CatCon 2025 (Pasadena, California)

Date: August 2–3, 2025

Imagine Comic-Con, but every hero is a cat. That’s CatCon. There were over 10,000 people, hundreds of vendors, walls of cat art, and adoption corners buzzing with tiny meows.

Sadly, I couldn’t bring Mochi into CatCon, but I carried a photo album of her adventures. Every booth I visited—whether selling glittery cat collars or “Cats in Space” posters—people squealed at her pictures. I even joined a workshop called “How to Teach Your Cat Tricks (Without Losing Fingers).”

The best part? Watching 200 kittens find forever homes in the Adoption Village. My heart melted like warm butter.

---

Day 255: Daytona Cat Week (Daytona Beach, Florida)

Date: September 13–14, 2025

Palm trees swayed, the air smelled like sea salt, and cats paraded in costumes. One strutted as a pirate, another as a ballerina. Mochi? She was a wizard, complete with a pointy purple hat.

Daytona’s highlight was the Agility Course. Imagine tiny tunnels, hoops, and hurdles—basically a cat Olympics. Mochi zoomed through half the course, then stopped to lick her paw dramatically. The crowd laughed, I cheered, and even though she didn’t finish, she earned applause worthy of gold.

And yes, we hit the “Meow Mall.” I may have spent too much money on sparkly collars and cat-themed socks. Worth it.

Day 270–365: Catstravaganza Tour (Multiple Cities)

From Boston to Dallas, Sacramento to Philadelphia, the Loving Cats Worldwide (LCWW) Catstravaganza® rolled across America. Each stop was like a festival—music, vendors, competitions, and of course, cats strutting like celebrities.

By now, Mochi was a seasoned traveler. She’d nap during flights, perk up at the sight of feather wands, and pose for photos like a furry influencer. Children lined up to pet her, adults snapped selfies, and I… well, I became the proudest cat parent on Earth.

Pause for Paws 🐾

Intermission: Mochi just climbed onto my keyboard. She typed “mmmmmmmmm.” Translation: more treats, please.

Reflections on the Road (Why Cat Shows Matter)

Looking back, 2025 wasn’t just about competitions or ribbons. It was about community. Every cat show brought together strangers who instantly bonded over whiskers and purrs. It was about rescue cats finding families, breeders sharing knowledge, and fans celebrating every breed, shape, and size.

Mochi and I discovered that cat shows aren’t just about cats—they’re about love, laughter, and a little bit of chaos. They’re about telling the world: “Yes, cats deserve the spotlight too.”

---

Final Entry: December 31, 2025

As the year closed, Mochi curled beside me, her paw resting on my notebook. I whispered, “We did it. From snowy Minnesota to sunny Florida, from sleepy naps on judging tables to wizard hats in costume contests—we saw it all.”

She purred softly, eyes half-closed, as if to say, “Good job, human. Now fetch me some treats.”

And so ended our whisker-filled adventure through America’s cat shows of 2025. A year of ribbons, road trips, and unforgettable purrs.
